The PhysX Suite is a suite of nodes and scripts designed to help compositors work faster while striving towards a more physically accurate and pragmatic approach to compositing. My goal with this set of tools is to allow compositors to use math and physics to their advantage, while still preserving artistic flexibility. Nodes like PhysX Defocus, PhysX LensFX or PhysX Glow will help you eyeball less by giving you a physically accurate base which you can then fine tune to your artistic needs. While tool like PhysX Stabilize, PhysX Cleanplate and PhysX Despill will help you work smarter and faster by using optimized worflows and an intuitive UI. Moreover the Nuke Essentials Toolkit will add quality of life improvements to Nuke to help you minimize tedious tasks. Here is a list of all the tools present in the suite :
- PhysX Defocus : A powerful non uniform zDefocus tool that uses camera data such as aperture, film back and focal length to create a physically plausible bokeh.
- PhysX Glow : A real exponential glow following the inverse square law that describes how light falls off in real life.
- PhysX LensFX : A set of multiple physically plausible lens effects packed into one node including exponential glow, vignetting, lens distortion, field curvature, chromatic aberration and halation.
- PhysX Stabilize : A node that uses your matchmoved camera to stabilize your plate. It allows you to display the animation curves in the properties tab and filter them in real time.
- PhysX Cleanplate : An alternative to the IBKColour gizmo that uses inpainting instead of stacking which allows for MASSIVE performance improvements without losing any quality.
- PhysX Despill : A powerful despill node that allows you to chose between four different despill methods : background replacement, edge extend, respill color or classic despill. It uses your cleanplate to despill instead of a solid color which allows for per pixel despill.
- Nuke Essentials Toolkit : A set of scripts added to a toolbar at the top of the screen that adds multiple quality of life tools to Nuke such as creating a read from a write node, opening a read or write node in the file explorer, restarting Nuke, force an expression on a knob, creating a light pass splitout for multiple render engines, switching between absolute and relative file paths and switching between Nuke and NukeX for the poor souls that dared to open a script by double clicking it.
