MACHINA

This project was inspired by the first Iron Man movie. My goal was to challenge myself with an arm roto animation as well as a set replacement. I used black dots on the actor's arm to matchmove his forearm and his hand. I then refined this animation and used it as a base to roto anim the shoulder and the fingers. The background is a matte painting and the middle ground is an environment I created within UE5. The arm was modeled and rigged by Baptiste Baudoin, a friend of mine, and I lighted and rendered it with arnold. I used 360° pictures taken on the set to recreate the lighting environment. The removal of the tracking markers as well as the roto at the beginning were quite a challenge. Overall I am very pleased with the final result, the arm's matchmove/compositing seems solid to me, however if I have time I may rework on the middle ground as it feels a bit too CG for my tastes.
